Becker’s 10th Annual Orthopedic, Spine, and Pain Management-Driven, ASC Conference was held in Chicago last Thursday, June 14th. Attendee Gregory DeConiliis spoke about a few tips to improve yourAmbulatorySurgeryCenter.
Here are some of our takeaways:
Pay Attention to Your Surgeons
To best utilize the surgeons at your ASC, Greg’s thought was to perform frequent audits. Surgeons should be informed of the prices of surgical supplies and the latest innovations of technological equipment, in order to keep practices standardized and the ambulatory surgery center current.
Get the Most Out of Your Staff
An engaged staff is the key to running an efficient and effective ASC. Empowering staff, from the front desk to nurses, by making them a part of decision making and including company bonding situations, creates an interest and personal investment in the center.
Add an Anesthesiologists to Your Team
Mr. DeConciliis believes that an invested anesthesiologist should be involved in the decision making process. Knowing the routine for these type of cases can reduce the length of stay in the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) and increase patient satisfaction.
